Acer unveils fanless Switch 7 with dedicated graphics, affordable Spin 5 convertible

New Acer Laptops 2017: Are these the ultimate lightweight student notebooks?

Acer's new fanless 2-in-1 has Intel's latest processors and discrete Nvidia graphics

The new models include an iterative upgrade to the current Swift, Spin and Switch models. All of the new notebooks feature 8th Generation Intel Core processors. The company is combining 4K 360-degree video capabilities with dash-cam functionality in the new Vision360. And it will be available in EMEA in December starting at €1,099; and in China in November starting at ¥7,499.

Starting with the Switch 7 Black Edition, which takes the title of being the world's first fanless 2-in-1 notebook with discrete graphics. It will feature the new Core i7-8550U processor and the larger 15-inch model will also be able to support the NVIDIA GeForce 1050 GPU along with up to 512GB SSD storage via PCIe. The brushed aluminum body features a kickstand that can be deployed and retracted with a single hand. This model has support for pen tilt and comes with an embedded stylus, making it a viable option for graphic designers and artists.

The device's ports include two USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports (one Type-C and one Type-A), eight USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports (one Type-C and seven Type-A), and two USB 2.0 ports (Type-A).

The Swift 5 is designed with both power and portability in mind, and the device weighs less than one kg. The notebook touts a metal encasing blended with materials like magnesium-aluminum alloys and its variations.

As expected, the Acer Swift 5 also features an 8th-generation Intel Core processor (unspecified at this point), and boasts a fairly generous 8-hour battery life.

The Aspire S24 features a 23.8-inch Full HD IPS display with a narrow 2.7mm bezel, a thin side profile of 5.97mm and a black and matte gold colour scheme that Acer said will see the PC "become a focal point of any home".

Acer is selling the Spin 5 in Europe starting in December, with a confirmed recommended retail price of €1,099.

Spin 5 is meant to be a light weight ultra portable laptop that offers a versatile form factor.

Finally, the Acer Spin 5 convertible is available in 13- and 15-inch variants and as the name suggests, can be used in laptop, tablet, display and tent modes. The laptops will be available in either 13-inch or 15-inch sizes and will be one of the more capable and impressive offerings in the convertible segment of laptops. Acer promises an 8-hour battery life but, as always it may vary depending on your usage. There's a lot to like about this model, not the least of which is its NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics. Both the devices work with the optional Acer Active Stylus.
