However a quick search on Xbox Live turned up the name.

Fornite players on Reddit suddenly noticed PSN ID's popping up in Xbox One games, easy to spot as PlayStation IDs do not allow a space and Xbox One does. One user even posted a picture of himself and his son playing Fortnite online together, one on Xbox and the other on PS4.

Sony did not respond to a request for comment, but judging from the one Epic made, it sounds like cross-platform play won't be coming back to Fortnite. Conversely, Xbox gamer tags can't have underscores.

A player named PRE_-CISION-_ was among the final five survivors of Fortnite's Battle Royale mode when he was killed by a player with a pretty unconventional name for PS4.

So, assuming all of this is legitimate and not just some massive mix up, it would appear that cross play has indeed been enabled in Fortnite. After reaching out to the player, PRE_-CISION-_ says he confirmed the identities matched.

PS4 and XB1 playing together. Was it a mistake? "We had a configuration issue and it has now been corrected", a spokesperson said. It looks like these brief glimpses of the big, lovely world of cross-console play were total accidents.

This was particularly intriguing, since over the past few months Sony Interactive Entertainment has proved to be quite unwilling to allow its player base to play with or against gamers on other console platforms. Sony and Microsoft are also being quiet on the subject.

That's unwelcome news for PS4 players who want to game with their friends on Xbox. "I don't know why that has to become the dialogue", he said.
