'Kingsman: The Golden Circle' review: Sluggish sequel will disappoint fans

VisitBritain launches spy-themed campaign ahead of film release

Julianne Moore 'Fangirled Out' Over Elton John While Filming Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Speaking of icons, it was a text from returning star Colin Firth that sealed the deal for Moore to play the film's villain.

This time around the gleefully over-the-top plot sees secret agents Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and Merlin (Mark Strong) team up with their U.S. equivalents the Statesmen (including Channing Tatum as Agent Tequila). Fortunately, critics have a few things to say about it.

Vaughn's comments won't do anything to assuage fears that Marvel will never get their hands on the FF or their many, many side characters, but it's the case of making the best from a bad hand at this point. "It's brilliant. One of my favorites is the Fantastic Four, so maybe one day I'll try and rectify the mistake".

Kingsman: The Secret Service introduced the world to Kingsman - an independent, worldwide intelligence agency operating at the highest level of discretion, whose ultimate goal is to keep the world safe. The film feels like a bridge between the first film and a potential future filled with spin-offs and further adventures with some of the under-used cast members - namely Channing Tatum's massively under-exploited Tequila, a character who we wanted to see more of.

"Kingsman: The Golden Circle" is out on Friday.

"I do not like too much it..." When is enough enough?

Directed by Matthew Vaughn, Kingsman: The Golden Circle hits theatres on September 22.

The script was written by Matthew and his regular collaborator Jane Goldman, who confessed that out of all the insane scenes they wrote, she was most looking forward to seeing all the ones with Elton brought to life on the big screen. The movie just doesn't have time. "It's not like anyone has ever accused James Bond of being realistic, but the "Kingsman" series has gotten so outlandish that "Moonraker" suddenly looks plausible by comparison".

I know what you're thinking. Believe it or not, that's not always a good thing.

In Kingsman: The Secret Service Colin Firth's spy Harry Hart was left for dead, but somehow the actor is alive and kicking and back for a sequel. The guy's a fricking action star and should get a movie where he shows off his skill set. "The movie has its moments, but the bloat and the blandness take their toll".

Despite a whole lot of bet-hedging, there's still a lot to enjoy about Kingsman: The Golden Circle, including a very hilarious extended cameo and some suitably bombastic set pieces. "Nice to see you again magical one", she captioned an Instagram shot.

We've already known that Channing Tatum would be planning an American spy with a hefty Southern accent in the new Kingsman movie, and now we can check out his introduction in a new clip.

Recently Egerton revealed he was punched in the face by co-star Ed Holcroft while filming "Kingsman: The Golden Circle".
