Nadal extended his winning streak to 12 after easing past Kyrgios 6-2, 6-1 in what turned out to be a one-sided summit clash in Beijing on Sunday.
"I remember Piotr with happiness and sadness", adds Kyrgios.
"It's not fair dude", Kyrgios complained at one point.
It continues what has been a stellar year for the Spaniard as he not only won a record 10th French Open title and his third US Open title, but also returned to the top of the ATP tennis rankings for the first time since 2014.

The Australian, who has had notable clashes with authority over recent years which have resulted in him being fined for audible obscenities, racket smashing and unsportsmanlike conduct, insists he has struggled to focus for the minor events in which he plays.
Kyrgios, who had been pursuing a fourth ATP singles title, displayed honest self-appraisal when he said his heavy defeat to Nadal was "typical".
"I don't know, I just got super frustrated", he said afterwards.
"I guess I put in a pretty good week, had some good wins", said Kyrgios. It's tough to find positives when you won (just) three games in the final.
Having then been angered by a line call the Australian proceeded to complain to the umpire which eventually cost him a penalty point at the start of the eighth game. "People will have their own opinions on how the final went down but, for the most part, I was satisfied with the week and happy to qualify for my second final of 2017".
