La David Johnson spoke out for the first time Monday, after the combat death of her husband led to a political fight between President Trump and a Florida congresswoman.
She said after receiving Trump's call she was "very upset and hurt" and that it "made me cry even worse".
"(The call) made me cry because I was very angry at the tone of his voice", she said. La David Johnson, a 25-year-old soldier who died in Niger when he and other soldiers were ambushed in an ISIS attack.
Wilson and the White House have been at odds about Trump's call with the widow of Army Sgt. LaDavid Johnson, who was killed earlier this month in Niger.
QUESTION: What do you say about her comment that he did not know - and the wife, the widow, said that the president did not know his name; he kept saying "your guy", "your guy"?More news: Kim Kardashian Robbed (Again!) Just One Day Before Her Birthday
Last week, Trump's chief of staff said he was "stunned" and "broken-hearted" by the criticism of the president's phone call. "The only way he remembered my husband's name is because he told me he had my husband's report in front of him and that's when he actually said La David". "That's my brother and I love my brother and I know he love my sisters".
Myeshia Johnson told ABC News on Monday morning that Wilson's account was "100 percent accurate". Trump shot back that Wilson had "totally fabricated" the account, but the soldier's widow and aunt confirmed it as true. "She is a highly respected Member of Congress who has demonstrated extremely competent leadership on a number of important issues, and we are especially proud of her fearless and uncompromising leadership to fight for the release of almost 300 Nigerian school girls who were kidnapped by the terrorist group Boko Haram".
He said: 'It stuns me that a member of congress would have listened in on that conversation.
Johnson, of Miami Gardens, Florida, corroborated the story of Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Fla. She wants to see his body to confirm it's him, but the military has not allowed that, she said. "I don't know what's in that box", she said. Wilson meanwhile urged Trump to learn Myeshia's name, and instead of doubling down on rhetoric via the Twitter war of words, the president should offer words of comfort and kindness and compassion. I'm getting sick and exhausted of this so-called politician using my husband as a political platform. "It could be empty for all I know". She also said he was "a loving and caring father and husband".
