Mike Evans NOT ejected for this. The staff is officially calling Winston questionable to return, but Dirk Koetter stated it would only be in an emergency situation. Evans was charging in defense of quarterback Jameis Winston, who was not playing at the time, but was antagonizing Lattimore by making contact with the back of his helmet. Lattimore turned around and shoved Winston in the chest.
A brief skirmish followed.
Saints coach Sean Payton was livid with officials until the flag was finally thrown at Evans for unnecessary roughness.More news: Beckley Kmart to close; liquidation begins November 9
For all that, the Bucs trailed just 9-3 with two minutes left in the half, but Drew Brees completed back-to-back 33-yard passes, the second for a touchdown and a 16-3 halftime lead. Earlier in the afternoon, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green and Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey were both ejected for their fight at the conclusion of a play, which involved Green wrestling Ramsey to the ground. Then Evans flew in for the tackle. "I heard a report on what happened from people that did, but I didn't really see what happened".
"I shouldn't have hit him in his back like that", Evans said.
"I want everybody to look at me", Winston told his teammates in a huddle before the contest. The Buccaneers have now lost five consecutive contests.
