Twin terror attacks leave cop dead another injured in south Kashmir

An Indian Army soldier and three terrorists, reportedly of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit, were killed in an encounter at Aglar Kandi village of south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Monday evening.

J&K's director general of police Shesh Paul Vaid confirmed the killing of the Army jawan and three militants.

A joint team of Army's 44 RR, SOG and CRPF following a specific information cordoned off village Kandi Aglar.

"As the search party was laying cordon around the area, the hiding militants fired on them, in which one soldier was killed", sources said. He however said that the forces can't reveal the number or "identity of the militants hiding there, as of now".

Three terrorists were killed by the security forces in the encounter.

Officials said that the jawan who was killed had succumbed after several bullet wounds.

A civilian suffered injuries in the crossfire, a police spokesman said. The encounter had ended with the gunning down of a militant.

Following the incident, civilian was shifted to the local hospital.

As the encounter was going on, Authorities snapped the mobile internet services in Pulwama district.
