She got her wish four years later, after her brother had been living with her as a foster child for almost a year.

Sixteen children in Snohomish County were officially getting adopted and no longer had to wait.

"Well, I got adopted by my mom!"

"Everything that happened with Ireland really pushed me to do better", Quinn said Friday, minutes after the adoption was finalized by a judge.

A special celebration was held at Orange County Courthouse for the biggest adoption day across the country.

Phillips said Adoption Day is meant to promote adoption as an option for families who want to help kids find permanency.

All of the children were adopted out of Ramsey County, but the families came from all over the state.

"It's a point no doubt acknowledged by the many among us who rediscovered our parents" wisdom in our 20s.The gift of parenthood is what adoptive parents get back, and while some children needing adoptive homes face challenges such as medical conditions or behavioral problems, the Children's Home is confident it can match the right children with the right adoptive homes."You don't have to be ideal to be a flawless parent", Troutman said.

"These are their forever families", Phillips said.

"They didn't want to be anywhere else, and I said we can do this", Hill said. "Some of them might not be biologically related, but they're linked in their hearts and minds".

Today, in honor of National Adoption Month, Foster Friends of Acadiana made a push to get more than a dozen children out of foster care and into their forever homes.

"I just love her for what she has done for me", Israel said.

One of those children is a little girl named Elise Broch. "It's not a job to me".
