Miss world 2017: Manushi Chhillar from Haryana, India won the title after 17 years

Manushi, who originally belongs to Bamnoli village in Haryana's Jhajjar district and is a third-year MBBS student at BPS Medical College for Women, Khanpur Kalan, in Sonepat, wants to be a cardiac surgeon.

Manushi Chhillar is the sixth Indian victor of the long-running contest, following in the footsteps of Bollywood actresses Priyanka Chopra and Aishwarya Rai.

On cloud nine Manushi Chhiller said, "I can not believe that I have won the Miss World title".

The Thiruvananthapuram MP quipped on the micro-blogging site about how the BJP made a "mistake to demonetise our currency" and how "even our Chhillar has become Miss World". "@NCWIndia will summon @ShashiTharoor to commission on his derogatory and degrading tweet on our pride @ManushiChhillar She got fame and name to country by winning #MissWorld crown".

22-year-old Stephanie, just missed out on the title of Miss World and was awarded third place, beaten only by Miss India, Manushi Chhillar, who took the crown, and Andrea Meza, of Mexico who came runner-up.

Manushi, who represented India emerged the victor after a total of 118 contestants vied for the coveted title. Then she replied, "Mothers deserve the highest respect".

Stephanie Hill, a former Miss South Yorkshire, was crowned Miss England at a glittering awards ceremony earlier this year. She is the biggest inspiration in my life. "A mother deserves that the most".

Her parents, Dr Mitrabasu Chillar and Dr Neelam Chillar, who were with her in Sanya when she was crowned Miss World, are both doctors working in health institutes in New Delhi. But she also wanted to serve the people.
