Police officers partnered with Union Rescue Mission to deliver Thanksgiving meals to local families on Tuesday. They also delivered hot meals to people in low-income high rises.

"We come together once again this year to promote and to help serve the people in the Brazos Valley that need help and to be served", said Danny Morrison, Epicures Catering Owner.

As Final preparations are being made for the Holland Rescue Mission's Great Thanksgiving Banquet, they are reaching out to the community at the last minute for dessert donations.

Volunteers are needed everyday at the Nashville Rescue Mission. "It puts me into what Thanksgiving is all about, like being grateful for what we have and making the most of it", Coloma said.

Yearlong, the Christian ministry helps those who are struggling with homelessness, poverty and addiction.

Enjoying the meal with a group of friends, Makayla Maykuk said she was thankful for the meal and counted it as a blessing. "I slept on the cots and then it led me to the Christ Recovery Center, which is right around the corner".

"I think that's really because we've taken the focus of this event of feeding those who are in our shelters and then immediate people close to our ministry who have a need. But it's changed my life".

The facility offers two to three meals each day, but the free Thanksgiving meal each year by far dwarfs those meals, both in terms of the number of people they are feeding and the logistics involved.

"I started when my husband passed away and like I told them the first year I came down here, they couldn't get me to go home".

"It makes me feel very proud because this is one less thing they have to worry about this time of year", she said. Others are volunteering to pay forward the help they've received from the City Mission as former clients.
