South Africa wins Miss Universe 2017

South African pageant crowned the world's most beautiful woman

Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters a 22-year-old the 66th Miss Universe

The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange, has congratulated Miss Jamaica Universe Davina Bennett on her third place finish in the Miss Universe Pageant last evening (Sunday) in Las Vegas.

A South African pageant has been crowned the world's most lovely woman in 2017 after she beat some 92 hot and dashing finalists in the 2017 Miss Universe contest.

Nel-Peters earned a yearlong salary and a luxury apartment in New York City for the duration of her reign as well as more prizes.

Nel-Peters developed a program called Unbreakable that trains women in self-defense. Many contestants start from a small age being in pageants and are fixed on the notion of competing in Miss Universe from a small age, dismissing higher education.

Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters surely impressed the judges with her brains, beauty, and charisma during the event. The 30-year-old model, who has served twice as a backstage host for Miss Universe, recently expressed her disappointment in not seeing any curvy contestants compete in the global beauty pageant. This year's edition had the most contestants ever, including the first representatives in its history of Cambodia, Laos and Nepal.

Congrats to Bennett for slaying in this Miss Universe competition, and for showing natural-haired women an Afro is just as attractive as any blowout in the book.

Miss Colombia Laura Gonzalez finished as first-runner up while Miss Jamaica Davina Bennett was named second-runner up.

The show was once again hosted by Steve Harvey who, two years ago, made a major blunder when he mistakenly announced the wrong victor. "More than your poise and beauty, you are a cut above the rest with your grace and elegance that exemplifies a true woman of substance and an inspiring Filipina", Araneta said.

This year's judges include YouTube star Lele Pons and former judge on "America's Next Top Model" Jay Manuel.
