Nemanja Matic doubtful for Arsenal game; Eric Bailly, Phil Jones out

Man Utd Newcastle Luke Shaw

GETTY Man Utd have slapped a £20m price tag on Newcastle target Luke Shaw

Arsene Wenger has no fears that rumours linking Mesut Ozil to Man United will have any impact on the German's performances.

Jose Mourinho was unable to give assurances over Nemanja Matic's chances as it relates to playing against Arsenal on Saturday, but told reporters that the Serbian will be travelling to London with the rest of the squad.

With his side still competing for four trophies but needing to close an eight-point gap to City at the top of the Premier League, Mourinho's squad is facing an arduous test in the build-up to the hectic Christmas fixture schedule.

The Red Devils now sit eight points adrift of their rivals City in the top flight ahead of the highly anticipated Manchester derby at Old Trafford next weekend.

Fellaini, who has a knee injury, will not feature.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference at the Aon Training Complex on Friday, Mourinho was asked about the availability of Fellaini and his fellow midfielder Nemanja Matic, who was forced off in the second half at Vicarage Road. "Let's see the feeling before the match, let's see the warm up, I hope he can (play)".

"I hope he can, I want to, he wants to, but I cannot guarantee, and Fellaini is not traveling with the team".

United visit the Emirates Stadium on Saturday before preparing for what could be a critical week in their season, with a Champions League clash at home to CSKA Moscow followed by the derby with Manchester City next Sunday.

On Thursday, England boss Gareth Southgate spoke about Jones, saying he had "massive empathy" for Mourinho, while also stressing he had "every trust in our medical team that they make the right calls".

He said: "When we have the ball we are going to attack with 11 players because the goalkeeper knows what to do when we have the ball and when Arsenal have the ball we will defend with 11".

"I don't know if he can play", Mourinho told MUTV. Borg's coach was telling him: "one point at a time, think just about one point". If they play with the vigour and confidence and the pressing game they played against Spurs, they should beat United.
