Secondus emerges PDP national chairman amid allegations of rigging

In his acceptance speech moments after being declared the victor at the Eagle Square, Abuja venue of the two-day event, Secondus whose last post in the PDP was acting National Chairman, served a "quit notice" to the APC.

"It is my hope that the newly-elected PDP National Chairman will use his experience garnered over the years to ensure that the PDP assumes its role as a responsible opposition Party in the country".

Atiku reminded that the immediate challenge before the newly elected national officials of the PDP is to run an all-inclusive administration where the various interests within the party can find accommodation.

This congratulatory message by the APC is coming two days after the APC criticised the outcome of the national convention of the PDP, describing it as abnormal.

In a letter to party faithful on Sunday, the media magnate noted: "I write to thank you most wholeheartedly for voting at the just concluded Elective National Convention in Abuja".

"Again, it is tragic that the PDP, which used to pride itself as "the biggest political party in Africa", has now been reduced to a regional party".

Uche Secondus was consequently declared victor of the election by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee and immediate past Governor of Benue State, Mr Gabriel Suswam.

"By frustrating south-west chairmanship candidates, it is unfortunate that the PDP has made a decision to punish the South West for not voting for the Party in 2015".

The APC also urged members of the PDP, who could pass "the integrity test", to join the APC in order to bring about the much-needed change the country deserves.
