Pia Miller - who played Katarina Chapman on the soap, and actor Jackson Heywood, who plays the show's Brody Morgan - have both sent good wishes to the actress, who is fighting for her life in hospital.

9 News Australia are reporting that the crash occurred on Boxing Day as a result of one auto driving on the wrong side of the road.

Home And Away star Jessica Falkholt is said to be fighting for her life, following a tragic auto crash which killed her parents.

Jessica, 29, played the role of Hope Morrison in the long-running and popular Australian TV series, "Home and Away" in 2016.

A fire "incinerated" both cars involved in the crash after the sisters were pulled to safety.

The remains of those killed in the crash were so badly burned it could take weeks to formally identify them, news.com.au reported.

They were airlifted to separate Sydney hospitals, Jessica to St George Hospital and Annabelle to Liverpool Hospital.

The 50-year old driver of the other vehicle was also killed at the scene.

NSW Police Chief Inspector Phil Brooks told ABC: "More than half of these have involved single vehicle run-offs either into a tree or a telegraph pole - sadly killing that driver and/or their passenger - which is an indicator to us that fatigue is the most likely outcome in these very sad and tragic events this close to Christmas".

It is understood that family members have been informed of the accident.
