A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 10 p.m. Saturday for Suffolk County and southern Nassau County.

A classic over running weather pattern sets up over the next 48 hours across Montana with warm moist subtropical moisture colliding with dense cold Arctic air that should produce moderate to heavy snow for all valleys and mountain passes.

"Widespread snowfall totals of 1-3" in central in, 2-4" totals along and northeast of I-74.

Highs remain between 10-15 degrees to start off the first couple days of 2018. The snow will also be light and fluffy so snow blowing onto the roads could also be a concern. Snow will develop into eastern Iowa by late morning and continue to spread over the rest of the area through the afternoon before ending this evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER STORM WARNING for the Butte/Blackfoot region from 5 am Friday to 5 pm Saturday.

The snowfall totals will be greater north of Interstate 70.

By midnight most of the snow has moved east into Ohio. Higher elevations could see 1' - 4' feet of snow. Snow is expected and with the cold temperatures you can expect slippery road conditions. See you next year.
