Parents of children aged two and three are also strongly recommended to make sure that their children have had their free flu vaccination.
Department of Health spokesman Bill Christian told media that two deaths were recorded in East Tennessee and one was recorded in Middle Tennessee.
"The nasal spray vaccine previous year reduced children's risk of flu by 65% meaning they were less likely to spread it to relatives and others they come into close with".
The state of OH has been experiencing widespread flu activity since mid-December, about a month earlier than last flu season.
