The San Antonio Spurs have hit the halfway point of the 2017-18 regular season.
But Leonard missed Sunday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers with what was reported to be a left shoulder strain, and he's now in line to miss some time with a partial tear in his shoulder.
As the second half dawns Monday night, the Spurs' top priority is getting everyone healthy, especially, of course, Leonard.
The Spurs took an extra cautious route with Kawhi Leonard's return and have maintained that path upon his return.
Leonard is being held out of Sunday's game against the Blazers, and Popovich confirmed to the media that the forward suffered a partial tear during Friday's game against Phoenix.More news: Fired Google engineer's suit claims reverse discrimination
The campaign has been filled with injuries for San Antonio but they have rallied and remained competitive regardless of who they have on the floor.
Leonard missed a huge chunk of the season due to a quadriceps injury and he has only appeared in eight games since he returned to the court.
Coach Pop is unsure whether the two-time Defensive Player of the Year will play in either game. "It's too bad because he was starting to get back into form a little bit after playing a couple of games", he added.
Since then he has been on a minutes restriction and rested regularly since returning, in true Gregg Popovich fashion, but Leonard has been fairly productive (15.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game over just under 23 minutes per game).
