The difference between a surrogate and a gestational carrier is the first-mentioned is someone who uses her own eggs, while the latter is fertilized with the eggs from the intended mother and is in no way biologically related to the child she is carrying.

Kim and Kanye announced the happy news of the arrival of the "healthy, handsome baby girl" on her own app.

Interestingly, despite her half-sister Kim Kardashian welcoming her third child, the post made no reference to the birth and instead promoted her Kylie Cosmetics collection. (Perhaps squashing those rumors that Kim's half-sister Kylie Jenner carried the child.) She also wrote that the couple chose to use a gestational carrier because after two high-risk pregnancies with North and Saint (Kardashian suffered from both preeclampsia and placenta accreta, which an be life-threatening), it was the best option for growing their family.

'A traditional surrogate donates her egg, is artificially inseminated with the father's sperm and then carries the baby to term.

"Our gestational carrier gave us the greatest gift one could give", wrote Kim.

"Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, attractive baby girl", Kim wrote in a post on her app on January 16.

Kardashian added that she immediately felt a strong bond with the new child after she was born.

As we all know, Kim was unable to carry their third child herself as she struggles with high risk conditions preeclampsia and placenta accreta.

Her post comes a day after husband West was spotted grinning with paparazzi, telling them they "can't think of a name" yet. The 37-year-old shared a close-up snap of Louis Vuitton's famous monogram print with no caption, leading to fans speculating the newborn will have a name somehow derived from the designer's title.

Followers were quick to share their theories in the comments section.

A source recently told People magazine, "They still don't have a name". So chavvy if it is.

Plus, Kim had previously said that the couple likes one-syllable names that are easy to spell, so the baby could be named "Lou" or "Elle".

"Maybe the baby's name is Love (LV)", someone wrote.

On Wednesday, reality star Kim Kardashian had people talking after sharing a cryptic Instagram of a Louis Vuitton monogram.
