National Wear Red Day: Why do we wear red?

It's an annual campaign by the American Heart Association to raise awareness for heart health.

That's more than all cancers combined.

SHOP the Lands' End Red Collection of red Women's, Men's and Kids items and 10 percent of the purchase price will be donated to the American Heart Association.

Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in the country.

Have a heart - go red for a woman you love.
. The disease, according to the American Heart Association, kills approximately one woman every 80 seconds and is now the No. 1 killer of women in America.

The good news is that heart disease and stroke may be prevented by understanding your family health history, knowing your numbers and making simple lifestyle changes.

"So you may go up to them and ask them a question, why are you wearing red, what's going on today?"

These women will share their personal stories throughout the year to help other women in Forsyth County prevent and fight heart disease and stroke.

Macy's is also celebrating Wear Red Day and is offering sales in-store and online through February 5. "It's only fitting that our faculty and staff should lead by example, in this case by supporting the American Heart Association's invaluable efforts to tackle a major health concern among women".
