Rivaldo expects Barcelona to eliminate Chelsea

Hazard has rarely shone on the biggest European nights for Chelsea

The real test, though, comes against a Barca side that are unbeaten in 30 games in La Liga and Champions League under Valverde.

And the reigning Premier League champions know they will have to keep the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez quiet while hoping that their own forwards, namely Eden Hazard, can do some damage at the opposite end.

We have to try to have the ideal game and to try to make the best decisions also for this type of team.

However, with domestic fixtures against both Manchester clubs also following their meeting with Barcelona, Conte says that while this packed schedule makes it hard to rest, Chelsea will relish the challenges that are presented.

"First, I see the game tomorrow", he said.

Asked if he was anxious about more of his players being tempted to accept mega-bucks offers from the Far East, Valverde said: "At the moment it has only happened with Mascherano and I am not going to make myself go insane thinking about these things before they have happened". We play in a different league.

"Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde admits he is facing "one of the best managers in the world" when his side take on Conte's Chelsea". This is a big game and we are Chelsea. And it is possible that a draining start to 2018, which has seen them play midweek games in six of the past 7 weeks has taken its toll.

"I think it was best for my team to try to win", he said.

"What's more, it was easy for me to adapt and thrive here after having played in the same position for several years while in Italy, and also because of the great players we have here".

"Not just for winning the Premier League here with Chelsea but what he did at Juventus, (and) the (Italian) national team".

At Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, Chelsea host Barcelona in the Champions League. We are playing at home and it could be an advantage for us. Of course there are other great ones, like the one I play for, Chelsea, and PSG, other greats. In every game they are able to create many chances to score, so we must be ready to suffer without the ball, to be compact, not to lose our heads during the game, and then to try with the ball to do what we know. With their strength and organization, they are going to give us a complicated game.

"It's always interesting to play against a team that has numerous best players in the world".
