RS Components (http://au.rs-online.com/web/) (RS), the trading brands of Electrocomponents plc (http://www.electrocomponents.com/) (LSE:ECM), the global distributor for engineers, today announced availability of the latest Raspberry Pi computer board: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+. The Cypress CYW43455 single-chip combo provides high-performance 802.11ac Wi-Fi for faster Internet connections, advanced coexistence algorithms for simultaneous Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) operations such as audio and video streaming, and low-power BLE connections to smartphones, sensors and Bluetooth Mesh networks. Together, it allows the B+ to provide improved 2.4GHz band performance, but also "far better performance" when using the 5GHz band.
For faster networking speeds, the Model B+ delivers dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless connectivity and gigabit ethernet USB 2.0, supporting up to 300Mbps. The Foundation claims the Model B+ is capable of "roughly three times the wired and wireless network throughput" of its predecessor. It makes use of the same 5V/2.5A power as used previously and would also support power-over-Ethernet with an accessory that would be coming soon and would be separately sold.
Raspberry Pi Model B+ comes after 2 years of the launch of Raspberry Pi 3 Model B. It is same as Raspberry Pi 2 Model B and Raspberry Pi 3 Model B. The size is about a deck of cards with 64-bit-quad core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. Both its Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips have been upgraded and now offer more modern wireless options.More news: Andhra Assembly resolution condemns Centre's callous stance towards state
The Successor edition has a set of noticeable improvements and for that reason, the company has named it the B+ model and not the whole new edition, Raspberry Pi 4. The 3 B+ on the other hand, upgrades to the LAN7515 for Gigabit over USB 2.0 connectivity.
Raspberry Pi 3 Model B vs. 3 Model B+.
"Like the original Raspberry Pi 1 Model B+, this is an attention-to-detail spin of the preceding product, driven by looking at what people have been doing in the wild", said creator Eben Upton. Interestingly, the number of users of Raspberry Pi computers are rapidly increasing day by day.
