Track athletes log qualifications at Gene Wells Relays

The C-Team Bulldogs will then have 10 days off before competing in the Area track meet at Spalding High School at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 7.

Junior Matthew East won the 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 42.08.

The three athletes who qualified last season for the Herd were the most since 2013 when Marshall sent four athletes competing in seven events individually and a relay to the regional meet. Hopkins also placed second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.65.

The variety boys team totaled enough points to take first place during the Matador Relays.

Niklas Klums would take first place honors in the 55 meter high hurdles with his time of:08.50. In the 1500 meters, senior Kelsey Horowitz finished first, followed across the finish by four consecutive Red Devil runners.

The boys 4x100-meter relay team of TeShawn Ervin, Colin Polston, Bieker and Gentz took third, with a time of 45.08.

"Senior Michaela Dendinger (Coleridge, NE/Hartington HS) ranks first in NCAA Division II in the shot put (51′ 11") and hammer throw (200′ 11") and is sixth in the discus (161′ 7") while sophomore Tia Jones (Elkhorn, NE/Elkhorn HS) is 16th in the shot put at 45′ 1".

Joey Gonzales placed 8th in the 3200 meter run with a time of 12 minutes and 19.17 seconds.

Other girls winners include Kylee Minehan (G) in the 1600; Regan Wheatly (G) in the 100 hurdles; Sarah DeSmet (B) in the 400; Maggioncalda (G) in the 100 and 200; Minehan (G) in the 800; Jasmine Garcia (W) in the 300 hurdles.

Meanwhile, the varsity girls team placed third with 126 points in the Matador Relays.

In the non-scoring weight person's 4x100, Squires, Van Wyk, Wehrle and James posted a winning time of 52.39 seconds.

Wesleigh Plantz competed in the 800 meter run where he finished 21st in a time of 3:17.24.

Morgan Holdmeyer placed fourth in the girls 800-meter run and Sullentrup fourth in the girls 3,200-meter run.

Georgetown's 4×400 meter relay team (Galley, Tomlin, Strickland, and Ellis) placed third with a time of 3:53.

Georgetown's 4×100 meter relay team (Galley, Logan Doss, Jonathan Strickland, and Mootz) placed third with a time of 50.61.

Eastern's Cy Young placed fourth in the boys 1,600 meter run with a time of 5:20.50. Ben Sobel '21 won the high jump.
