Manchester United recently parted ways with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and manager Jose Mourinho has explained why they won't sign a replacement.

United have finished seventh, fourth, fifth and sixth in the past four campaigns as they are heading for a second place finish this season which would be the highest after Ferguson's era. "I'm really happy to achieve that in a league I've wanted to play in since I was six years old".

He said: "We have Lukaku and Marcus Rashford as number nines, and of course Marcus can player right and left, but Marcus is a striker".

Mourinho recalled Paul Pogba to the starting XI for the win over Swansea, after the France worldwide had been left out of the line-up for the previous three games against Liverpool, Sevilla and Brighton and Hove Albion.

"The second half was different".

Still, the only moment of concern for David De Gea came on the hour when the Spanish keeper made two excellent, one-handed diving saves in quick succession from Abraham to maintain the two-goal cushion.

Pogba started the season in superb form in the Premier League before missing 12 games with a hamstring injury between September and November.

The 25-year-old France worldwide has had further spells on the sidelines this season due to minor injuries and poor form and has not started in United's last three games.

He continued: 'We are going to fight every match. "I think he is very fine after the injury".

Jose Mourinho, was particularly pleased with the team's first half show, calling it one of the best half he has seen all season.

"It's not me who makes the team".

'But so far, we're swimming so it's not bad, but we still feel we need to swim faster and we need more points to stay up'.

However, with his club second in the table and facing an FA Cup semi-final with Tottenham later this month, the manager remained upbeat.
