BioShock Infinite was the last game in the franchise and it came out back in 2013 for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The remaining team members of Hangar 13 were kept in the dark on what the project entailed, until word slipped out it was a new BioShock title.
According to Mafia 3 developer Hangar 13, a new BioShock title is in the works at a top-secret studio at 2K Games. The news comes as part of a new Kotaku report that details some of this issues that both plagued Mafia III during development and the studio post-launch.
Numerous people who helped make Mafia III are now gone, including the game's art director, technical art director, senior producers, design director, many design leads, and a number of other key staff. Some left voluntarily; others were let go or asked to move.More news: Tesla Removed from Crash Investigation for Violating NTSB Rules
The report seems to suggest that there is a top secret studio that is possibly working on a new BioShock game.
Naturally, this has all remained very hush-hush up until now, with the game possibly in development under the codename "Parkside". "They're careful about not falling into the same problem every studio has, where they have too many people and nothing for them to do." explains one person now working on the new BioShock - at once revealing that they're still early in development, but that there's a clear plan in place for a core construct to build the title around. We have yet to see a new game in the franchise hit the newer PS4 and Xbox One consoles thus far. We'll bring you more information on this new BioShock project as soon as it becomes available. E3 2018 this June might be a safe bet, but until something official emerges, your guess is about as good as ours.
