The superintendent of a New Jersey school district was arrested Monday after being caught defecating on a high school football field, police said.

According to local police, coaches and staff at Holmdel High School in the United States had been finding human shit on the school's track and field for days.

Police think they've caught a super pooper.

He wouldn't speak to how long staff had reported finding feces on the track, citing the ongoing investigation.

He was arrested at 5:50 a.m. on Monday, according to NJ.com, and has been charged with lewdness, public urination/defecation and dumping of litter. His salary is listed as $147,504 a year, according to public employee records on www.datauniverse.com. Due to New Jersey state law, he can not be placed on unpaid leave unless he is indicted or faces tenure charges, according to the school district.

Tramaglini, who lives approximately three miles from the high school, was arrested when he was found at the school's athletic fields. In the meantime, he's on paid leave.

"We learned of municipal court charges facing our current superintendent of schools in Holmdel". Tramaglini didn't return an email from CBS News' Crimesider seeking comment.
