The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned political contenders against desperation for power following the violence and bloodletting that characterised Saturday's All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congress in various parts of the country.

"The only material the officials are with, is the result sheet".

Speaking to journalists immediately after the Congress at his Evwreni Ward 8, Emerhor disclosed that party faithful in the ward had a consensus arrangement which has produced the candidates of their choice, but said; "in other places, there may be multiple candidates but, we called on party faithful to vote their choice peacefully".

In Edo the APC described the event across the state as "participatory democracy at play".

It was further decided that party members should be briefed by the congress committee from Abuja before the commencement of the exercise.

He said there was consensus in most of the local governments in accordance with the party constitution but that four local government's had yet to agree to a consensus.

NAN observed that the elections were free, fair and peaceful at the various wards visited in Oredo and Ikpoba-Okha local government areas of the state.

Similarly, the newly-elected Ward Woman Leader, Mrs Remi Adebowale, commended the party members for their commitment and loyalty to the party.

"Another challenge was to get people who will conduct the election because they want to satisfy all stakeholders to avoid allegation that some people have hijacked the process, this took time also".

Yusuf said there might be grievances from some people, but noted that the congress was welcomed by majority of party members.

The APC spokesman, however refuted allegation of manipulation of the results of the congress by state party officials. He has a degree in Electronic & Computer Engineering.
