'Everyone Thinks' I Deserve Nobel Peace Prize

Boris Johnson to meet Donald Trump to try and save Iran nuclear deal

British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said U.S. President Donald Trump would be a deserving victor of the Nobel Peace Prize if he can solve problems in Iran and on the Korean peninsula.

The US president would deserve the accolade if he tackled the nuclear threat posed by North Korea and Iran, the foreign secretary said as he turned on the charm during a trip to the US. " I think the authority of the Peace Prize is therefore powerful, that exactly as you're awarded the Peace Prize, you will always be under public scrutiny and have to respond to the public for your actions.

The US president added the one and the only reward he really wants "is victory for the world". Presidents Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama are all Nobel winners.

Trump was speaking following his Cabinet meeting and after announcing the release of three American prisoners from North Korea. Clearly enjoying the response, the President smiled and said, "Thank you, that is very nice".

The statement came after South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un sat down for high-level talks in the border village of Panmunjom on April 27. "We only need to take peace", Moon said, as translated by NPR's Korean interpreter Se Eun Gong.

Trump said Wednesday that he is hopeful his meeting with Kim - whom he not long ago was mocking as "little Rocket Man" - will be successful. "A lot of things can happen". "A lot of good things can happen, a lot of bad things can happen".

Mr Johnson stressed that the United Kingdom shared Mr Trump's concerns over the Iran nuclear deal, which has seen sanctions ended in exchange for guarantees that the Middle East state known as a sponsor of global terrorism stops developing nuclear weapons. I think it's going to be a very successful deal.
