'Fallout 76' Is Bethesda's Newest Upcoming Installment Into The Franchise

‘Fallout 76’ Teased Ahead of E3

Bethesda hints at new Fallout game

Fallout 76 release date - when is it coming out? And towards the end the broadcast states, "In vault 76 our future begins". There's also a broadcast message in the trailer that says, "When the fighting has stopped and the fallout has settled, you must rebuild". Battlecry Studios have expertise in "hero shooter' style games, so perhaps Bethesda is eyeing this potentially lucrative gaming segment".

Bethesda has promised more information on Fallout 76 at its E3 presentation next month, which is set to take place on June 10 at 6:30pm PT.

It sounds like Fallout 76 isn't necessarily a new mainline installment in the franchise, but rather a spinoff set in the Fallout universe - nearly like a Fallout 4.5, which is what we sort of expected. Is it a new Fallout game or an online/multiplayer spin off? On the surface, Fallout 76 resembles other recent games like Fallout 4, but mechanically the game will have some differences including online play. For reference, Fallout 1 is 2161, Fallout 2 is 2241, Fallout 3 is 2277, Fallout: New Vegas is 2281 and Fallout 4 is 2287. It is also mentioned in one of the alien captive recorded logs (no.13) recorded by Giles Wolstencroft, a Vault-Tec official who was abducted while inspecting the vault's construction site. If a report from Kotaku is to be believed, that's exactly what Bethesda plans to do with Fallout 76, which won't be a traditional single-player RPG. It hasn't been made clear as to what Reclamation Day is, exactly, but it is likely the day that the Vault Dweller leaves regardless of its meaning. If you really want to buy anything with the "Fallout" name attached without knowing anything about it, though, pre-orders are already open for Windows, PS4, and Xbox One editions.

While we won't know anything for sure about Fallout 76 until the Bethesda panel at E3 next week, we can speculate until the cows come home.

That meshes well with old rumors: The title "Fallout 76" was first mentioned on 4Chan, and was described as a "Rust clone".
