Coutinho back at Anfield as Real Madrid stars mock Reds

Liverpool icon Dalglish urges fans: Don't boo Coutinho on Anfield return

Kenny Dalglish Sends Message to Liverpool Fans Ahead of Philippe Coutinho's Anfield Return

The Paris Saint-Germain forward returned from his foot injury on Sunday and made an immediate impact as he scored a sublime goal in the 2-0 victory over Croatia at Anfield.

Tite said there was no doubt that Neymar gives them something extra but said that needed to be kept in perspective.

Tite wasn't getting carried away, though.

Croatia captain Luka Modric was among many impressed with Neymar.

The most expensive player in the world has been sidelined since February 25.

There were three bookings in a surprisingly feisty first half and Neymar's first involvement off the bench saw him side-step a potentially painful lunge from Lovren, who was trying to halt his run.

And much to the delight of the sizeable home support, Liverpool playmaker Roberto Firmino added the second in added time to wrap up a comfortable win for the Brazilians.

Coutinho switched to a more orthodox midfield role after the introduction of Neymar, on the left, at the break and Firmino played the last half hour in the middle after replacing Jesus.

"I am here to help Brazil".

Coutinho's departure from the Reds in January to join La Liga champions Barcelona left a bitter taste in a number of Liverpool fans' mouths.

Brazil, in their first visit to Merseyside since 1995, started on the front foot but nearly fell behind 14 minutes in when Liverpool's Dejan Lovren headed a corner inches wide.

He then provided the moment of inspiration to win the game in the 69th minute. "If I were the manager there, I would try to sign him too".

Neymar's return to the pitch came as a big boost to Brazil ahead of their World Cup campaign, which begins on June 17 against Switzerland in Rostov-on-Don.
