While there isn't much information, Express-News writer Jabari Young tweeted Friday that Leonard, who has remained quiet in the postseason about his plans for the 2018-2019 season, doesn't want to stay in San Antonio.

Since Leonard has a year left on his deal, the Spurs do still have say on where he will be playing next season. Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports was told by a source that Leonard has "grown uncomfortable" with the situation between him and the team and wants out. With the draft under a week away and one of the league's five best players on the market, the National Basketball Association hot stove is going to heat up. This is likely one of the betters deals they could get and Kawhi Leonard could join Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid in The Process. In a recent column for The Ringer, Kevin O'Connor identified the Phoenix Suns, who own the No. 1 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, as a likely suitor for the 26-year-old. "Essentially, the Sixers would be risking three assets because they trust Leonard".

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Leonard's top preference for a trade destination is the Los Angeles Lakers.

Los Angeles, of course, is Leonard's hometown, and the Lakers will probably be hungry for talent in the next few months.

Los Angeles has the cap space (about $66 million with a $101 million cap) to sign two All-Star free agents to max contracts, so James and Paul George could both join with Leonard in this scenario. In the 2016-17 season, Leonard averaged 25.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.8 steals per game. "Now that Leonard reportedly wants out, anything is possible". Boston inquired about a trade before the February deadline, sources said. The NBA draft will be held on June 21.

While the Celtics have talented players, that the two most tradable veteran stars are coming off of injury is a factor that will surely be factor into the Spurs assessment. The Lakers are also believed to be interested in offering a package including young players like Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, or Brandon Ingram.
