Sultan Bin Saeed Al Badi Al Dhaheri, Minister of Justice, issued a ministerial resolution setting up the Shawwal moon-sighting committee for the current Hijri year 1439 to determine the first day of Eid Al Fitr.
"There are fewer chances of the Eid moon being sighted today", the Met Office said while stating that chances are higher of Eid-ul -Fitr being celebrated on Saturday, June 16 across Pakistan.
The decision was announced at a press conference after a meeting of the committee held in Karachi under the chairmanship of Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman.
The Islamic month of Shawwal comes after the 29 or 30 days of the month of Ramadan when Muslims across the world observe a month long fasting.

The sighting of the moon signifies an end to the holy month of Ramadan and the fast of millions of Muslims across the world.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on Thursday evening (today), to sight the Shawwal moon.
Fasting during Ramadan is the fourth of the five pillars of Islam and they form the basis of how Muslims practice their religion.
Also, moon was spotted in Saudi Arabia, according to Arab media.
