The rapper, whose real name was Jahseh Onfroy, was gunned down in broad daylight near a motorcycle store in Deerfield Beach north of Miami, the Broward County sheriff´s department said. The 20-year-old was struck by gunfire from two armed men during an apparent robbery.
Rapper XXXTentacion posted an eerie video on Instagram several months ago in which he discussed the possibility of his own death. Onfroy was shot and killed, Monday, June 18, 2018, in Deerfield Beach, Fla.
XXXTentacion pleaded not guilty to multiple felony counts, including witness tampering, and had been under house arrest for a time while he awaited trial.
On Twitter, his peers expressed shock and sadness. Kanye West said he was "inspired" by XXXTentacion and added "thank you for existing". His second album ? spent a week at No. 1 in March and featured the hit single "Sad!" which peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100.

He routinely got into fistfights with fans at his concerts.
Videos circulating on Twitter showed Onfroy was sitting in the front seat of his vehicle seemingly unconscious when he was found by witnesses.

Following the charges, Onfroy was removed from certain Spotify playlists as part of a new policy by the music streaming platform to address "artist conduct".
