Cleveland selected Mayfield out of Oklahoma with the No. 1 pick in the 2018 draft.
Tyrod Taylor's great game in the preseason opener in NY gets lost in the media hubbub over No. 1 pick Baker Mayfield and tight end David Njoku's big nights. Taylor's first completion was a 32-yarder to Jarvis Landry, who apparently did something other than "bless" Janoris Jenkins afterward, as the newest "Hard Knocks" star drew a 15-yard taunting penalty.More news: Indonesia earthquake: Lombok survivor names baby after disaster as death toll rises
Mayfield calmly stepped up in the pocket and delivered a low but catchable ball to WR C.J. Board over the middle for a fresh set of downs. On the first series of the fourth quarter, he hit fellow rookie Antonio Callaway on third and four for a 54-yard touchdown pass. The drive included conversions on third and long and fourth and two. His play on the field was quite encouraging for the Browns as he completed all five of his pass attempts for 99 yards that included a 36-yard touchdown connection with tight end David Njoku.
Mayfield closed 11-of-20 for 212 yards with two scores on the night. This marked the first time in National Football League history in the United States that fans were able to bet on a game while actually at the game.
